Following the devastating flood in Pakistan, Bayer is providing immediate relief in the form of medicines worth EUR 80,000. The company will make the goods available to the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army Medical Camps to enable quick distribution to the people in need.
Moreover, Bayer is making a donation in cash worth EUR 50,000 to Caritas Germany. These funds are to be used for direct aid by the relief organization in Pakistan. Disaster aid workers of Caritas Pakistan are providing assistance in the form of food, emergency shelter, drinking water and water-purification tablets to families who have been most affected. Health teams from the organization have been treating thousands at four mobile clinics. Furthermore, a fundraising drive is currently under way among Bayer's employees in Pakistan.
The company is planning on making a contribution to the reconstruction efforts in the country in addition to these immediate measures. The Bayer Cares Foundation is working with Bayer Pakistan to evaluate several aid projects aimed at rebuilding the infrastructure.
Bayer employs around 650 people in Pakistan. About 30 of our employees and their families in the region have been directly affected by the flood. They are being provided immediate relief assistance by Bayer Pakistan.
